Free advice provided by international research institutions and universities to companies wishing to explore the potential of data they generate during the production, marketing, interactions with customers and the supply of their products. It is the possibility offered to companies thanks to the “Challenge Us” program, organized by the Institute of Management of the Sant'Anna School in the context of the European project H2020 "SoBigData ++ (GA 871042), with the participation of CnrUniversity of PisaSapienza Università di RomaUniversity of Tartu (Estonia), University of Sheffield (United Kingdom), Ethz (Switzerland), Center for the Study of Democracy (Bulgaria).

By submitting a proposal on a problem or a potential idea of exploitation of data inherent or generated by your business, a group of experts will select the companies that will then be assisted in the resolution of the "challenge" by expert researchers in the field of big data belonging to the European consortium SoBigData ++, to which the European institutions mentioned above adhere. The companies will be selected by 1 July and will be followed for three months, between 15 July and 15 October. The results will be presented during a public event, at the end of the “challenge”, scheduled for 11 November.

In an increasingly digitalized and interconnected world, the amount of data produced every day has reached levels unimaginable until a few years ago. This data is produced on a daily basis by a growing number of devices connected to the network such as smartphonesindustrial technological machinerysensor networkssmart carsweb search engines, web searches and social networks. However, being able to exploit this data correctly is not an easy challenge for companies, especially those that are not “digital natives”. It is necessary to develop skills and acquire mastery of cutting-edge technologies, integrating them later in the organizational and production processes. For this reason, companies increasingly tend to rely on experts who can guide them in this transformation process.

As highlighted by researchers in the “challenge Us program “It is a widespread opinion that companies must be able to exploit this data to continue to remain competitive on the global market through the offer of new products / services or make their processes more efficient. The use and analysis of this large amount of data can in fact be crucial to understand and predict the behavior of its customers, predict when a machine will need maintenance, or add new services to improve its offer”.
